Tracking climate change adaptation at local to global levels

(2009 - 2011)
Current funding: CIHR, Canadian Foundation for Climatic and Atmospheric Sciences
Researchers involved at McGill: James Ford (co-lead), Lea Berrang-Ford (co-lead), Jody Heymann (co-lead), Magda Barrera, Jaclyn Paterson, Carolyn Poutiainen, Alexandra Lesnikowski, Michelle Maillet, Tanya Smith

This project is developing novel methods to track adaptation action in different sectors and at different scales. Jaclyn Paterson is co-leading a team documenting how the Canadian health system is responding to climate change, assessing the extent to which interventions are consistent with the risks posed by climate change. James Ford and Lea Berrang-Ford are leading the development of systematic literature review approaches to track and characterize climate change adaptations at a global level and within developed nations. Tanya Smith is leading a project to estimate how much the Canadian government has invested in climate change and health research over the last decade, evaluating the nature of projects funded and extent to which key priorities are being addressed.
